So almost married a year and I am now 3 month pregnant. I broke down and bought some maternity pants last week since almost all my regular pants were getting a tad bit uncomfortable. It's not that I've gained a lot of weight, In fact at my last dr apt I had lost some, but my body has begun to change. Change shape, form, and function and it's a little nerve wrecking.
First of all it's really hard to suck-in now. Something about the way the muscles are stretching just won't allow it. Second, there is a definite little bump there and I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not fat I'm pregnant and my changing waistline is perfectly ok.
That being said I have a had a couple of morning where I pretty much broke down in tears after tearing my closet apart trying to find anything that I felt good in, not to mention comfortable. After all it's Fall, which has been my favorite season fashion-wise, since I feel my best in slimming jeans, boots, and sleek shirts. Not so much this year. Slimming jeans... right not even going there. Boots? Did I mention I have all the grace and balance of a whale in a tub of jello? I run into things all the time now. And sleek? Well, I feel about as sleek as Jabba the hut.
So back to the maternity pants. Did you know that maternity clothes are a racket? Seriously, why the think its a good idea to price gouge clothing that women are only able to wear for a few months at a time, during a very hormonal and vulnerable time is beyond me. I made the mistake of picking up some maternity magazines and I don't think I saw a single item for under 60.00- and that was for a necklace or something. But I digress, I managed to find a decently priced pair of maternity pants or two at MotherhoodMaternity. But I've resisted wearing them unless I;m feeling incredibly fat/bloated. Why? Becuase my friends, it's hard to feel sexy in elastic pants....

A funny thing happened on the way to death
Its called life.
Per Via (latin)- along the way
A friend pointed out that in the bible most miracles jesus performed happened along the way to somewhere. He didn't proclaim his intent to nor set out to perform miracles but rather noticed the need and responded as he went about his day.
If you agree with the bibical perspective that Jesus was born to die (and as we all are- but thats another discussion) his calm attitude and ability to focus on the needs of other is inspiring. If it were you or I would we be tempted to spend our time dwelling on it? Trying to prevent it? or being so focused on it that we don't acknowledge the precious time and people that we do have left.
Many of us do just that. We are so busy buying make-up, working out, following trends, taking vitamins, trying the new fad diet, climbing that corporate ladder, and keeping up with the jones' that we forget none of it matters in the end. We all have the same corporal fate, death. (spiritual fate is another matter) and what good is working to prolong that life and "dress it up with the things of this world" if you are so busy doing so that you don't enjoy it.
People often ask me what my motivation for getting up in the morning is. My answer is "To see what will happen" and "to experience it." Existence happens (for a reason!) and Death is inevitable. It comes willing or no. But no one can make you live.
We exist to experience life and the love of God and to share it to affect positive change with each other; be it with a smile, helping change a tire, a hug, or through a relationship.
This blog will be the account of the things that happen to me along the way.
Are you existing or experiencing?
Are you running for death or are you living till death?
Do you notice the miracles along the way to tomorrow?
